Mr. Pallamary began his surveying career in 1971 when he worked for one of the oldest surveying, engineering and planning companies in the United States. Following his training and education in Boston, Massachusetts, Mr. Pallamary relocated to San Diego, California in 1976. He received his license to practice land surveying in California in 1980. In 1982, he formed his own business, PRECISION SURVEY & MAPPING, and for eighteen years, he operated a 12-person surveying and engineering firm. He sold his business in 2000 to a subsidiary of a Forbes 500 company where he took a position as a Vice President of local operations. Mr. Pallamary’s training and education have focused on many important elements of the land surveying profession and related areas of business. He is a frequent lecturer at numerous universities and he is the co-author of a university textbook on preparing real property land descriptions. He is the co-author of a treatise on land surveying, written with the late Curtis M. Brown. He is also the author of a popular book on land surveying in Southern California.

As part of his practice, Mr. Pallamary provides business and consultations services to other companies in a “peer to peer” practice. He is regularly consulted by other firms for advice on standard of care, professional practices and business matters.

Being a veteran of many cyclical economic upheavals, Mr. Pallamary has developed a very sensitive attitude towards the treatment and management of personnel. His critically acclaimed article on hiring practices in the land surveying business attained international distribution.

Having observed the difficulties associated with times of economic uncertainty, Mr. Pallamary has observed that when there is insufficient work in any given region, many surveyors, employees, and employers become disheartened. When this happens, a void is created in the local labor pool and many skilled and talented people leave the industry and community. This process diminishes the capacity of local employers to staff with properly trained individuals, in turn, creating a cycle of less skilled labor performing complex and important work.
